These are the terms under which you may use Parallax. By creating an account or pairing with a partner, you agree to them. They are short, in plain English, and they govern the relationship between you and Belvantis — the company that makes Parallax.
Parallax is a relationship insight tool. Both partners in a dyad answer the same question in two parts (what you think, and what you predict your partner thinks). The app holds both answers privately until both have submitted, then reveals them. Over time, it measures how well you understand each other.
Parallax is not a clinical diagnostic tool, not a therapy service, not a substitute for professional mental-health care, and not a medical device. If you are in crisis, the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (988 in the US) or your local equivalent is the right resource — not this app.
You must be at least 18 years old. You agree to provide accurate information when you sign in. You may not use Parallax on behalf of another person without their explicit consent.
Parallax is built for two people in a committed romantic relationship. You pair with your partner once, using a one-time invite link. Once paired, the dyad is the unit of subscription, history, and trends — not the individual.
Either partner can unpair the dyad at any time from Settings. Unpairing deletes the dyad's encrypted history. Both partners are notified.
Parallax is free for the first 7 days after the dyad is paired. After day 7, a soft wall appears. After day 10, the app becomes read-only — your past reveals and trends remain viewable and exportable, but new questions, partner submissions, and pairings stop until a subscription is active.
A single subscription covers both partners in the dyad. Either partner can pay. Subscription is via Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android); we never see your payment details. Your subscription auto-renews until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your Apple ID or Google account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Pricing (USD; localized at the point of purchase):
Family Sharing (iOS): Parallax subscriptions support Apple Family Sharing. If a Family Sharing organizer purchases Parallax, all family members are entitled to use the app. Each family member still pairs with their own partner separately; Family Sharing only shares the subscription entitlement, not your dyad data.
If you and your partner both opt in, Parallax can share trend data (per-domain match rates and large-gap flags) with a therapist or counselor you designate. The counselor never sees your raw answers unless you both individually opt in per question.
Parallax is a relationship insight tool, not a clinical diagnostic. Counselors may use Parallax as one input among many in their professional practice; Parallax makes no claims about therapeutic outcomes. Parallax does not provide clinical advice, treatment, or diagnosis. We do not endorse, certify, or credential any counselor who uses the app.
Either partner can revoke counselor access instantly from Settings. Revocation is immediate; the counselor's cached views become orphaned at our servers but cannot be retrieved.
How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy. In short: your answers are end-to-end encrypted on your phone before they leave it; we cannot read them; we never sell your data; and we share it only as required by law.
If you lose your phone and your partner has theirs, you can re-pair on a new device — but your past answer history will not be recoverable, because the keys are gone. We will not pretend otherwise.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these terms; if we do, we will tell you why and, where practical, give you a chance to fix the issue first.
Parallax is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate. We make no warranty about the effect of using Parallax on your relationship — that depends on you, your partner, and the conversations you have.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Belvantis is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Parallax, including but not limited to relationship outcomes, emotional distress, or decisions made by you or your partner based on the app's output. Our aggregate liability for any claim related to Parallax is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
This does not limit any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, for personal injury caused by negligence or for fraudulent misrepresentation).
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of TBD, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of TBD County, TBD, USA, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your home jurisdiction.
If we change these terms in a material way, we will notify you in-app at least 7 days before the changes take effect. If you continue to use Parallax after the changes take effect, you accept the new terms. If you don't, you may delete your account.
